MSc SUSTAINABLE BUILDING
PhD ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING
CERTIFIED PASSIVE HOUSE DESIGNER
SAP ASSESSOR
Mauricio's career has spanned 15 years. He ran his own architectural projects in Mexico before coming to the UK to undertake a PhD in architectural engineering at Oxford Brookes University. Mauricio’s academic research focused on measuring how heat is conducted through materials that are insulated by a vacuum. To achieve this, he had to create computer models that can calculate how heat moves at both the molecular and macroscopic levels.
His career, both in academia and the professional arena, has been marked by a profound understanding of building regulations and sustainable practices across various countries, augmented by his proficiency in adhering to third-party standards such as LEED, BREEAM, and Passivhaus. He is an avid programmer and likes to design software to improve building performance by leveraging computation and data-driven decisions.
